These "finishing block" waxes are specifically formulated to be applied using a roto fleece. We started tested this during the 2019 season, and quickly had outstanding results - particularly in older and more heavily groomed snow. In new snow we have found that these products can provide improved performance as underlayers for the Next liquids, or even liquids from other brands. The preferred application method is to run the roto fleece against the block to "load up" the fleece, and then apply the wax to the ski using the fleece. These fleece applied waxes are best when the film thickness is kept very low. The fleece application is extremely economical and is well proven in race settings. Provided the film thickness is kept very thin, we have seen benefit from multiple layers, and even layering different products on the ski when conditions call for it. It's a bit like kick waxing!
The Next Cold block is the most frequent test winner in the line-up, and has been used often as the final cold application on race day.
