The "Unicorn Hair" on this brush isn't actually from a unicorn. Unicorns are mythical beasts, and this is a very real brush, made from the hair of a blondish horse. We tested a bunch of different horsehair material looking for something that provided really good efficiency without generating excess heat, and without scouring the base too aggressively. This brush is designed to quickly reduce surface films and "reset" a ski during a race day, such as prior to sprint heats.
This brush is based on the same bristle material as the very effective "unicorn hair" roto brush, but the bristles have been shortened (which makes them stiffer) since hand brushing requires more pressure and elbow grease. This has exactly the same bristles as the oval version, and the price is similar because the number of "tufts" is similar.
