The Long Haired fleece (or "punk fleece") is used for finishing Star Next liquid applications. We recommend very high rotating speed (3000 to 4000 RPM) for this operation. The easiest way to get those speeds in cordless tools is to buy a decent impact driver. Star also produces a special roto shaft with a 1/4" hex quick connect fitting on the end to connect to an impact driver for use at higher rotating speeds.
The photo here is of the 12mm fleece - the product described is distinctly fuzzier. We'll get a new image when we can!
When used at high speed, this long haired fleece does not tend to "load-up" with wax, and it does not appear necessary to dedicate a fleece to each product. This fleece is also fine for use finishing liquids from other brands - the sheep were raised to be brand-neutral.
The 70mm fleece can be used alone on any shaft without a spacer - it doesn't "wander" along the shaft in any way that disrupts the work. It can also be stacked on a 140mm shaft with another fleece, enabling work on different products at the same time. Or it can be stacked alongside a Star Soft Nylon 70mm brush, for finishing.
