Star Beta S10

S10 (-25/-10) – New product for 2024-25, was a test product for 2023-24. This was developed at the insistence of Erik Mundahl who was clear that the S15 was too grippy/draggy in the colder conditions he sees in Alaska. S10 has turned out to be extremely fast and snappy in dry/desiccated old snow. It has also been an outstanding speed cover – maybe the best we’ve tested – it seems preserve the snappy kick of underlying waxes while providing a meaningful speed bump in temps right up into the S20 range.

The Star Beta S-series kick waxes are the result of an ongoing collaboration between Star and Caldwell Sport. The S-series waxes have been developed to provide very rapid kick engagement and release, and outstanding speed, in new and natural snow conditions.

These waxes build on the success of the M-series klister mix waxes, which have become staples in race waxing because of their “snappy” and secure kick engagement and speed in older snow conditions. The new S-series waxes build upon the lessons learned in the development of the M waxes, but without the use of klister material.

The S-series waxes provide notably wide-range performance, and tend to “hang in there”, providing kick surprisingly deep into a warming range of conditions. As always, the best wax selections are made from testing wax. But don’t be afraid to try these waxes at the ends of the published temperature range.
