Rode Top Line Stick VO

Product Description

0C/-2C all snow

Topline VPS covers a very similar range to Rode Multigrade Violet, but is a superior race wax in our experience. Where Multigrade Violet provides great kick as an incremental step-up from the soft blue range, it often runs slower than standard Rode Violet, and is seldom fast enough to be good race wax. On the other hand, the Topline VO has provided us with better kick and faster glide than either Multigrade or straight Violet. This wax has quickly become something we reach for early in the testing process. We've had success with it at temps down near -5 in eastern snow.

The Rode Topline products were introduced to the market for the 2012-13 season, with very little explanation. We had good luck working with these products as soon as we had them for testing on our home snow. At World Championships in Val di Fiemme we had the chance to talk to the Rode race service guys and got a bit more explanation as to what, exactly, these things are! The Topline waxes are not fluorinated versions of other Rode waxes. In fact, they're not fluorinated at all. They're new materials based on new chemistry. In our tested we have found that the Topline waxes are best used as bulk-waxes, not as top-dressings for other waxes. We have had very good luck with the Topline waxes on New England snow, but we've also used them and seen them used internationally over the past several seasons. In general we have found that one or another of the Topline waxes will out-perform the standard Rode wax in the appropriate range.
